Under the general supervision of the Clinical Care Coordinator, the Ward Clerk is responsible for proper admission and discharge paperwork; facilitating the ordering of lab/diagnostic tests; arranging for consult visits/transportation; and scanning/uploading of documentation and maintaining charts. This position also answers the phone and stocks supplies on the unit. If the Ward Clerk is also a CNA, she /he may be asked to assist with CNA duties, as needed.
Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, and notifies appropriate personnel or records messages.
Schedules appointments, transportation, and contacts families regarding appointments for residents, as needed.
Processes required reports to and from the Nursing Office, i.e., pharmacy delivery receipts, current resident census list, memos and communications, and various 24 hour reports required by the Director of Nursing.
Assists with admitting new residents, which may include labeling of bed and closet, marking eye glasses and dentures, completing lab, x-ray and EKG requests, and notifying the lab and x-ray departments.
Facilitates the monthly routine labs for long term residents.
What you will need to be part of our EPIC team:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ year of Ward Clerk experience, or 3+ years of related experience.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills, with proven ability to communicate effectively with residents, physicians, visitors and all facility personnel.
